A Memoir in Episodes · Frank Segers
Dispatches from a Life Unlived on Schedule
Most men my age are counting down to retirement.
At 58, newly on my own, I’m swimming in the Caribbean, dancing until sunrise in Southeast Asia,
and closing deals from beach cafés.
This is what choosing your own life actually looks like.
Prologue
“Finally free from the professional pressure and the domestic routine that characterise our Western society. I decided to write it all down.”
It was in the autumn of 2023 that I decided to give my life a different direction. A well-paid job, and a marriage of nearly thirty years that had, with time, quietly run its course. I said goodbye to both, a decision that was mine to make, and one of the hardest of my life.
It brings much grief and loss with it, and above all the feeling of guilt. But time always brings counsel. Learning to enjoy each day, to appreciate the beauty of nature, to discover new people. That is what this book is about.
A roller coaster of experiences and emotions. Travel with me. Carpe Diem!

How It Works
Frank Shazamed over 2,000 songs across 3 years and 10 countries. Each episode features the music that was playing in the moment. From Reggaeton in Playa del Carmen to Khmer pop in Phnom Penh.
Every episode is illustrated with Frank’s own photography. Caribbean sunsets, Colombian street life, Buddhist temples at dawn. Images you won’t find on any travel blog.
Behind-the-scenes clips, destination reels, and candid moments from the road. Subscribe on social for regular short-form content that brings the memoir to life.
About the Author
Belgian by birth, global by choice. Frank spent over two decades as a senior international sales and business development executive in the software and technology industry. Growing companies, building teams, closing deals from boardrooms in Brussels to São Paulo, Singapore and San Francisco.
At 55, he stepped away from the life he had built, the job, the house in Belgium, and a marriage of nearly thirty years, to begin again. He sold the car, packed 2 bags and 1 hand luggage, and boarded a TUI flight to Cancún. What followed was three years of living that most people only daydream about.
Today, Frank provides international sales and marketing support services and helps companies start using AI, working with Anthropic’s Claude platform, from whichever beach café has the best Wi-Fi. He is fluent in Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish, speaks and understands Portuguese and Italian, and is currently working on Thai, Vietnamese and Khmer.
Not Yet is his first book.
